A new year and lots of events and workshops planned for the year. We have already started our first beginners course for the year with a full house, and all our courses for the year are already taking bookings, right through to December. As always we give our waitlisted people first go at the courses as they have usually missed out from last year due to the demand. We have now published our full schedule for the year, so visit our Events page if you want to see what is available and book in.
This year we are adding more courses as weekend workshops, all of which are held in Roleystone, and so far all are proving very popular. These are the same courses as are done at McDougall House, but done in a single weekend rather than over four evenings. This suits people who are working during the week, and we have been slowly adding them over the past few years. The location is also a little larger, so we can also accomodate more people at a time, although the class sizes are still held to a maximum of 12.
At the end of 2016 we trialed a new course, "An Introduction To Finishing", which allowed us to try out all the tools for applying gold lettering and patterns to books. The course was kept small so that we could see what worked and what didn't. This was a great success, and we will be doing it again at the end of this year.
Also this year the Canberra Guild is hosting the Australian Bookbinding Conference at the end of March. This promises to be an excellent event, with many international speakers attending. If you are interested, check them out. Canberra Guild Web Page.
Welcome to 2017, and perhaps we will see you at one of the events or meetings during the year. More events will be added over the next few months, so check the events page for details.
